Volunteers make all the difference in the world by being of service to the Church and to the community. We welcome your volunteer efforts. Listed here are but some of the many ways you can volunteer and make a difference in the Church.

Stephen Ministers provide emotional and spiritual support to people going through crises, including illness and declining health. Several Peace Church members have been trained as Stephen Ministers.

Stephen Ministers go through 50 hours of training, regular continuing education, and monthly small group peer supervision. They are trained caregivers. They have skills in active listening, dealing with feelings, Christian caregiving, setting boundaries, relating assertively, process-oriented caring, crisis intervention, and ministering in a wide range of situations.

Building and Grounds

The Church welcomes any assistance with maintenance projects around the Church. Some projects are short-term and skill-specific. Some are ongoing projects. Please contact the Building and Grounds Committee or the church office to volunteer.

Worship Ministries of the Church

Nothing says welcome quite like a smiling greeter to welcome people to worship services. Greeters can be individuals, couples, families or friends.  A greeter may be the first smiling face someone sees that day!

Readers serve by reading the Scripture passages of the day and other assigned parts in the worship service.

Ushers distribute the church bulletin and also collect the offering. They may give you a welcome packet to introduce you to the church, or  help you with hearing assisting devices. They are on duty to help your worship experience be a great one.

Altar Flowers
Honor a loved one, celebrate a birthday or anniversary by sponsoring altar flowers.  You can schedule your date by contacting the office.  Cost is approxiamtely $20.00. The bouquets are yours to take home with you after the service.

Mission Supper

The Grace Cafe Mission Supper is done on the third Thursday of each month, with an outreach to offer food and fellowship to those who have nowhere to go for a meal, or who simply need time with caring, supportive Christians. Everyone is welcome, and the meal is free.  The Supper is prepared by and staffed by Church volunteers.

Mission Trips

Mission trips are done through a cooperative ministry of the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ. Previous mission trips provided disaster relief to Moore, Oklahoma, and Joplin, Missouri.
