Open and Affirming

Here at Peace UCC, all people are welcome. For many years, people have been made to feel less than welcome in some churches: divorced, single, gay or lesbian or transgender, physically challenged, young people, older folks, etc. Again. here at Peace UCC, all people are welcome. Open and Affirming Congregations within the UCC now comprise about 27% of the total number of congregations, and growing each day. Peace UCC is ONA #1428. Below, is our Open and Affirming Covenant, adopted February 12, 2017:

"As Peace United Church of Christ, we value diversity even as many become one in Christ. We believe that each of us is created in God’s image, and loved by God as revealed to us in many ways, including the gift of Christ. Following Christ’s example, this community of faith declares itself to be an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, and we covenant together to welcome all persons, including those of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances. In this Church, all people are invited to share fully and participate in leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments, responsibilities, blessings and joys of our Church. In all ways, we strive to live out this faith principle: No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at Peace United Church of Christ."
